This holiday season was special to us, because it was our first Thanksgiving and Christmas as husband and wife! Of course, we had to have a picture taken, so we could send a cheesey Christmas card out to everyone. That's the picture (left), and we're standing next to our Christmas tree. We're going to start some of our own holiday traditions, while keeping some that we both grew up with. One thing we plan on doing is buying an ornament together every Christmas. We're not going to buy any ordinary ornament we see. It has to have meaning. The one we bought this year is one that looks like a cookie shaped into a snowflake. It reads, "Special Christmas Memories," on the front. On the back is a verse of scripture: "We have shared together the blessings of God (Philippians 1:7)."
We live in Cedar Park and most of our neighbors decorted for Christmas. I did some decorating as well, but our neighbors out did us by a long shot. I bought stockings for my husband and I, and we went to Pets Mart and bought stockings for our dogs. I bought stocking hangers for the mantle above our fireplace, set out our nativity, and placed a couple of little Christmas things around the house (picture frames, candles, tablecloths, decorative dish rags). It sounds so cliche, but I don't care. The holidays are fun! In our neighborhood a huge tree was decorated with lights, and a sleigh was put in front of it. Chris and I checked it out and took pictures in the sleigh.
A couple of days after Christmas we left with our family for a cruise. Yippy! We went to Cozumel, Honduras, and Costa Maya and we were gone for an entire week. We just got back into town this Sunday. Although we had 2 weeks of family and fun, both of us were ready to come home to our house in Austin.

Christmas Eve was fun. We woke up and opened Christmas presents and we gave our dog's their gifts as well. Chris and I even bought each other the exact same Christmas card. I thought that was pretty funny. What are the odds of that happening? How romantic. After we celebrated Christmas together, we packed our bag's and left Austin. We drove to Houston where we celebrated with our family. Christmas day we went to see "Marley and Me." That was a wonderful movie, but it may have been premature for me to watch it, since I lost my sweet dog only a few months ago. By the end of the movie I was bawling like a baby, and I was in need of therapy for trauma, I think. lol
The day affter Christmas we went to see "The Nutcracker." I grew up going to see this ballet, and Chris had never seen it, so I bought us tickets a couple of months ago as a surprise. We sat in the box seats, and we had a great time. I was a dancer when I was little, so the ballet was entertaining for me. I used to take ballet, tap, and jazz. As I got older, I took street dance. In college I took modern dance for a semester. Watching the ballerinas at "The N
utcracker," I really started to miss dancing. I would love to take dance again, and I'm considering starting it back up this year. I don't think I could go to the ballet all the time, but going every now and then would be fun. Chris lost interest after the first act. lol I can see why. It's hard to follow a story line that is acted out in dance form, but I love any form of art, so I found 95% of the show entertaining.
