Me and Mackenzie

Kicking butt at "guitar hero"

(not really, but I can play a real guitar, which is way cooler, so there)

We took a trip to Oklahoma this weekend to visit some of our family. We stayed with our sister in-law (Mackenzie) and her husband (John) who is Chris' brother and my brother in-law. They recently had a baby, so we were able to see our new nephew for the first time. His name is Grayson Cole and he is three months old. Chris could not stop commenting on how animated Grayson is. He makes the cutest facial expressions! Over the weekend, everyone came over to John and Mackenzie's house. My mother in-law (Chris and John's mother), John and Jared (Chris' childhood friends, although he considers them his brothers), as well as Mike (a long time family friend). Chris grilled burgers and hot dogs on the grill...of course. After stuffing our faces with burger's, hot dog's, chips and dip, we played guitar hero. LOL It was our first time to play, but I think Chris did a pretty good job for a beginner. As for me...mmm...not so much. Sunday we drove out to the ranch in Noble and Chris chopped some firewood for us. YES...he chopped firewood. None of that store bought firewood, thank you. My hubby is a country boy and I like it! LOL

Chris and I had a great time in Oklahoma, but we are pretty worn out with traveling. Ever since we met a year and a half ago, all we have done is travel. With Christmas coming up, we will be taking a couple of other trips, and it is a bitter sweet ordeal for us. We will be visitng some of our family in Houston, Texas, and we will be taking a trip with them as well. We are going on a cruise! YIPPY! It will be nice to take a vacation, but...that will be MORE traveling for us, so...like I said...it is bitter sweet. After the new year, we have made a vow to STOP traveling. Anyone who misses us can come to visit us. We have made our rounds visiting our family members and friends, and for those who haven't come to visit us in Austin yet, it will soon be their turn. LOL We will not be traveling unless it is either A.) a major emergency or B.) a mission trip that we believe God is calling us to take. Both of us are really looking forward to spending sometime alone, just the two of us, without anywhere to go or anything to do. Ahh...I am breathing a sigh of relief just mentioning it.

The best part of the holidays is spending it with family and friends. Presents are great, but Christmas time isn't about presents at all. As a matter of fact, it isn't about us either. Christmas is about Jesus Christ. It is a time to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior who lived His life as a servant for God and mankind, who preached the good news of the gospel and who layed down His very life by suffering beatings, torture and death by crucifiction. He did this out of His great love for us, and God gave His only Son out of His love for us and desire for our salvation (John 3:16). We are thankful for all of the blessings that God has given us, at Christmas time, and at all times. Merry Christmas!
