It's 1:00 a.m. and I'm writing in our blog. Tomorrow (or should I say today) on April 29 at 12:15 p.m. I am cutting my hair and going back to my natural shade of blonde. It's going to take a while for my semi-permanent brunette color to fade, but it will over a little bit of time, and with some tweaking here and there by my stylist. (We have discussed what my natural shade of blonde is and figured out that it is somewhere between strawberry blonde and medium to dark blonde.) However, the real reason I'm writing this blog has little to do with going back to my natural color and more to do with my hair cut. The reason it's so important to me that I am blogging about it (yes, I said "blogging") is because I am going to be donating my hair! 
Years ago I heard about "Locks for Love." They accept hair donation's, and the donation's are used to create wig's for people fighting cancer. Almost three years ago, Pantene (you know, the shampoo) began accepting hair donations for women fighting cancer. Pantene "beautiful lengths" bears the slogan, "make the kindest cut of all," and there are requirements for donating hair. Pantene has raised millions of dollars for research and awareness for women and families affected by cancer, as well.
Did you know that Pantene creates and distributes these real hair wigs to women fighting cancer for FREE? During these difficult economic times, and considering how expensive a wig can be, that is pretty amazing. Did you know that it takes three to four months to make just one wig? Imagine the work that is dedicated so lovingly to doing so. Did you know that at least six ponytails are used, when creating just one wig? It is awesome to me that my hair is going to be combined with hair from at least five other women, and that all of us are donating for a cause that will impact someones life!
Since I decided to donate my hair, I've been taking better care of it. Brushing it and conditioning it, knowing that it is going to belong to someone else is a pretty cool feeling! I'm up late tonight with butterfly's in my tummy, like a kid the night before the first day of school. lol That might seem ridiculous or this may seem petty to some people, but I don't mind. What other people think doesn't bother me much. I like being a part of things that are bigger than myself. I like being a part of things that reach out and touch peoples lives with love. Isn't that what life is all about? I'm going to follow up tomorrow with more pictures and "blogging." :-) For now, hasta manana!
